Etching is a very old art form.
The picture is transferred to a plate. The lines are then etched with the help of an engraving tool and etching ink is used to cover the etched lines.
The plate is cleaned without removing too much of the ink in the lines.
A slightly damp piece of good water colour paper is placed over the plate. This is done on an etching press.
With the help of rollers and felt blankets, the etching ink is forced into the paper.
After the paper has dried, watercolours are used to colour the etching.
